Amati Schmitt at Django In The Bay Sunday the 25th of May 2025

Amati Schmitt

Amati Schmitt was born on August 08, 1995, he is the son of Dorado Schmitt, a jazz musician, with whom he has performed for the last fifteen years on major stages around the world. Amati Schmitt grew up in a family of musicians. From the age of six, his father Dorado Schmitt taught him first the piano, then the guitar and learned the tradition of jazz manouche. Already at the age of nine, he had his first appearance on stage. At the age of 14, he performed at the Jazz Festival in Vienna, where he opened for the Paco de Lucia concert for which he received great praise. He then performed at the festivals in Monaco, Lyon and Colmar. At the age of sixteen, he gave concerts with his own group at the Django Reinhardt Festival in Samois sur Seine. In 2012, he released his first album.

Amati has discovered the possibility of expressing his instrument, and thus transmitting his feelings. It was with natural ease and ease of communication via music, that he was able to touch the public and in particular Leonardo Dicaprio who organised an evening in May 2018 at Carnegie Hall in Manhattan where he invited Amati to perform with the Django All Stars.

He performs in all corners of the world, such as at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, where Bradley Cooper came to congratulate him in person at the end of the concert, at the New Morning in Paris, the Kennedy Center in Washington, with the DR Big Band in Denmark, Le SF jazz in San Francisco, the Eddie Lang festival in Monteroduni. He has also performed with Häns’che Weiss, Jimmy Rosenberg, Edmar Castaneda, James Carter, Emmet Cohen, Freddie Cole, Jeorge Glem, Peter Beets, Grace Kelly, Anat Cohen, Houston Person, Randy Brecker ect…

Today, Amati Schmitt lives in Hombourg-haut in Moselle, and he embarks on a new CD project, from which he wants to show us more particularly that there is not only speed in music, he has been able to create a beautiful balance between feelings and dexterity, expressed his feelings through ballads, waltzes, bossa and swing.
